The Chapter College

The Chapter, run exclusively for Commerce students, was founded in 1991 by Mr. T. Mohanan, a versatile scholar and teacher in the vast expanse of Commerce education.

The Chapter College is located at a serenely beautiful locale in Kollam city on S.N. College Junction-Mundakkal road, just a stone’s throw from N.H. 66.  The most sought – after college is easily accessible to students coming from both nearby and far – flung areas.

The college, now into its 30th year of existence, enjoys a good reputation on account of its consistently brilliant performance over the past three decades. It has always remained the first choice of parents and students alike and their confidence and trust in the college can be attributed to the enviably unparalleled results in the university examinations including numerous first and second ranks secured by our students in recent years and a very conducive campus atmosphere. Hygienic and well-furnished classrooms, immaculately maintained furniture and other requisites including proper lighting and fans as also modern toilets and toiletries at vantage points on the campus are also some of the salient features.

The Chapter had enjoyed the status of Kerala University’s Learners Support Centre and M.G.University’s Off Campus until these systems were done away with as per the orders of UGC.

We Enrich the Sky of Commerce Education. The college aims at making its students employable and self-reliant rather than merely making them acquire a qualification.  The student should possess an outlook befitting that of a global citizen and be able to draw a distinction between good and bad and make a significant contribution towards the overall development of society in general and the individual concerned in particular.

The Chapter runs all the computer courses recognised by the State and Central governments in its state-of-the-art computer lab. It has to its credit some important awards including the ones conferred on by Tally Academy Bangalore. Another noteworthy feature is The Chapter library stacked with an assortment of books on almost all conceivable subjects ranging from Commerce, English language, dictionaries in English and Malayalam to great literary works by globally famous authors. A Readers’ Corner is also available for students where all the important Malayalam dailies, English newspapers like The New Indian Express and The Hindu, and popular periodicals are provided.

Extra-curricular activities, once a rage with the student fraternity in the state but a thing of the past now is given due importance at The Chapter as we are of the firm belief that exploring new avenues will bring about positive attitudinal changes in youngsters. As the saying goes “Change is inevitable in a progressive country” one has to move with the times. Extra-curricular activities are certain to play a vital role in moulding the character of a person. As an educational institution cannot turn a blind eye to this important aspect all-outefforts are being made with missionary zeal to nurture and promote co-curricular activities aswell. The Chapter management believes that personality traits need to be instilled in young people who are supposed to be at the vanguard of social renaissance at a later stage in their lives.

Our

VISION & MISSION

The Chapter’s baseline is “We Enrich the Sky of Commerce Education.” The college aims at making its students employable and self-reliant rather than merely making them acquire a qualification.  The student should possess an outlook befitting that of a global citizen and be able to draw a distinction between good and bad and make a significant contribution towards the overall development of society in general and the individual concerned in particular.

Keeping this in view, the teachers lay a great deal of emphasis on matters related to the individual’s character and perspectives. They do their best to bring out the best in the students and make them win the respect of everyone concerned. Only those students having a vivid imagination and razor-sharp mind can set a very high standard for themselves and for others. Through education they should gain not only knowledge but also qualities such as compassion, sympathy, empathy and fellow-feeling. In the sphere of Commerce, the customer is held at very high esteem. Likewise, in every human activity involving other people “self” should be prepared to play second fiddle to the others. An average human being cannot accede to this viewpoint. Only an educated, broad-minded person can put this into practice.  An ordinary person may regard this as self-deprecating. These are some of the aspects the teachers lay emphasis in the classroom.
